Oberon is a Southeast Asian-American self-taught watercolor artist based in Baltimore, USA who began their transformation after completing their Masters in Computer Science in 2021. Growing up in Miami deeply embedded within a Catholic background, they finally felt free to begin to explore the visual arts in the weekends and evenings previously occupied by schoolwork after achieving the financial stability demanded by their parents.
Their work has since transformed into a meditative practice of reflecting on masculinity and the historically limited palette, bodies, and behavior that constrains and excludes others from that coveted label. Drawing deep inspiration from art nouveau, their work seeks to challenge and expand beyond the existing binary between hyperfeminine and hypermasculine depictions of queer men in erotic art.
